When a person is housed through the Two Step programme, they are offered the support of a volunteer mentor/befriender from our Moving On mentoring scheme, which has approved provider status from the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation.

Those who are interested to become a mentor are invited to one of our training days where they will learn about what it means to be an effective mentor. We will then ask for references and get a CRB check done before accepting volunteers as mentors for our clients.

Once accepted onto the scheme, the mentor will commit to meeting someone who had formerly been homeless over a six-month period, every two weeks.

Our mentoring coordinator will support both parties in the mentoring relationship.

Mentoring has made a significant difference to the long-term sustainability of many of the tenancies created by Two Step which has reduced the likelihood of clients becoming homeless again.
