Information for referrers

Two Step works with single, non-statutory priority homeless people who have been been drug and alcohol free for six months. We house them with landlords in the private rented sector. Due to Local Housing allowance restrictions, people under 35 will be helped to find a room in a shared property or referred to a hostel, and those over 35 will usually be offered studio accommodation subject to suitability.

If you wish to refer someone, you will be asked to confirm their suitability for our service and that they understand what we can offer.

An appointment for a face-to-face assessment will then be made at Two Step (at 360 City Road, London EC1V 2PY). The client will need to provide original ID and proof of benefits. If they are interested in what we can offer and we believe that they are able to manage a tenancy, we will contact them when a suitable property becomes available for a viewing. If they accept the offer and are accepted by the landlord, they will then be assisted with paperwork and move in.

If the assessment indicates that they are unlikely to be able to manage a tenancy, or if they decline the offer made by Two Step, this will be noted and communicated back to the referrer.

If they decline a reasonable offer of accommodation or fail to attend a viewing without notifying Two Step, they will not normally be made further offers.

Unfortunately due to funding challenges, we are currently only able to accept referrals from organisations that have a funding or reciprocal relationship with us. If your organisation would like to explore ways of making referrals to Two Step please contact rob.payne@hopeworldwide.org.uk
